The team from Shine On and fundraising pop-up store Everlasting were SO proud to host a fundraising fashion show April 8th, to support the very worthy I Got Your Backpack (IGYBP). With the support of you wonderful ladies we raised over $16,000!!!!
Led by it’s wonderful founder, Anita Hinton, IGYBP supply backpacks filled with essential items for women and children in crisis, as they enter the support of Women’s Refuge.
IGYBP has been around for three years now and have never had this kind of support, so they were so grateful and over-the-moon happy with the result. There will be lots of families who will benefit from this day, and we can’t thank our supporters enough for helping to raise so much money on their behalf.
Once we got on board, we decided to help raise funds by selling tickets to an afternoon of fashion, food and the feel-good factor. Kelly and Sam from our head office team did an AMAZING job organising not one but THREE fashion shows to showcase our latest styles for the season. We needed models – and we found them in lots of different places!
Two of the models were trustees from Everlasting, one was a stylist who has supported Shine On in the past, one was one of our Shine On models, one is part of our customer service team here at and the others were Shine On customers, just like you!
We had beautiful food, fashion and bubbles as well as inspiring speeches, an epic live auction and incredibly awesome goodie bags – a pretty perfect way to spend an afternoon right?!
We want to inspire our staff and our customers to think about other's problems and giving – and Shine On can help by providing a platform making it easy to help others. Our motto is “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good”. By doing this we will be happier people, and we really believe we have a responsibility to do more for our communities.
We are all about supporting and uplifting women, and it was so great to meet so many of our ladies and come together to support such a worthy organisation doing great things for other women!
A huge amount of time and work went into this day, we are so proud of the hard work Kelly and Sam put in and feel like it was such a great experience we were lucky to be a part of.
Once we come down from this high we might start brainstorming for another one... so watch this space!!!
In the meantime ladies you can visit https://igotyourbackpack.org.nz or visit their Give A Little page – let’s support these women and children at a time when they need all the help and kindness they can get.
